The reserve performs the functions of protection and reproduction of wild animals and their habitat. The profiling species include: Siberian roe deer, elk, badger, upland, waterfowl and marsh game. Rare animal species of the Kurgan region and the Russian Federation are also protected. Potentially harmful animal species (competitors and enemies of the profiling species) include: hooded crow, fox, wolf, raccoon dog. In order to protect and reproduce wild fauna species and protect their habitat any activity is prohibited on the territory of the reserve if it contradicts the goals of creation of a reserve or harms natural complexes and their components, including: (a) hunting (with the exception of number regulation of wild fauna species); (b) damage to biotechnical objects, information signs and notices, prepared feed for feeding animals; (c) placement and construction of buildings and structures, roads, pipelines, lines of power transmission and other communications without coordination with the Department of Natural Resources and environmental protection of the Kurgan region; (d) stay with dogs without written permission from the administration of the reserve; (e) setting nets and venters for fishing closer than 30 m from the edge of reeds and reeds; (f) drying of lakes and marshes; (g) burning of vegetation, straw and felling residues; (h) forest felling without agreement with the administration of the reserve; (i) conducting clear and selective felling in forest areas within a radius of 300 m around wood grouse courtship areas; (j) aeronautical chemical works, the use of pesticides of 1 and 2 hazard classes, the use of pesticides in forests, in a 200-meter zone of waterbodies; (k) placement of warehouses for storage of pesticides and agrochemicals, sites for pickling seeds, preparation of working solutions and filling machines and equipment with them, neutralization of equipment and containers for pesticides and agrochemicals; and (l) placement of industrial and domestic waste outside the previously designated areas.
