Résumé

The Tuscany Region aims at protecting the regional forest resources and the spontaneous vegetation. To this end, the present Regional Act regulates the interventions to be undertaken for the prevention and extinction of forest fires. Article 1 gives the definition of forest in order to determine the application scope of the Act. A forest is constituted by any area of not less than 2000 square metres in width, covered by a forest vegetation, with a density of not less than 500 plants per hectare or a coverage of at least 20 percent. Within 180 days from the entry into force of this Act, the Regional Council shall draw up the Plan for the Prevention of Forest Fires, which must contain the elements identified in article 2, paragraph 3. The Region shall set up the Service for the Prevention of Forest Fires. Further administrative functions shall be exercised by the Provinces and Mountain Communities, as per article 3. Article 11 concerns the controls to be carried out by forest officers to guarantee the enforcement of this Act. Article 12 lays down penalties.
