Specifically, it regulates protection of certain streams, disturbances of stream beds, and related permits; protection of water bodies, and related permits; protection of navigable waters, excavation or fill, and related permits; structures impounding waters, and structures in waters; responsibility of owner; inspection; alterations to watercourses and lakes, inspection and correction, and illegal impounding of waters; prohibition of certain incompatible uses over either primary ground water recharge areas or federally designated sole source aquifers; inspection report of dam safety; and water quality testing requirements for land clearing debris and compost facilities in Nassau and Suffolk counties.
