The Act contains provisions on pollution by oil (Part 2), pollution by noxious substances (Part 3), prevention of pollution by packaged harmful substances and on prevention of pollution by garbage. The Act sets guidelines and requirements for the construction of ships, defines reporting requirements and provides for removal of pollution and the covering of related costs.
