Résumé This Presidential Decree approves the Regulation of the Free Trade Zones Law. The Regulation, consisting of 42 articles divided into nine Chapters, establishes the procedures and formalities for the constitution, organization and operation of free trade zones, as a mechanism for economic and social development and as an instrument to support investment. It is applicable to the defined economic and geographical areas and reserved for this purpose, as well as management entities, investors, individuals and other private entities that perform activities there. In addition, it regulates their creation, supervision, management, exploitation, access, activities, provision of services, control of goods, special regimes, transgressions and fines. For the creation of Free Zones, under the terms of article 6 of Law No. 35/20 of 12 October, the proposing public and private entities must submit the following proposals: a) Denomination of the Free Trade Zone; b) Geographic delimitation; c) Duration; d) Study on the environmental impact; e) Social impact and economic viability assessment; f) Strategic plan.
