Under section 4, when an animal trespasses any lawful fence, the owner of the land shall return the animal to the nearest pound keeper or district and the owner of the animal is responsible for damages caused to the land or the fence. Under section 6, the owner or occupier of land where an animal is kept, or the person in charge of the animal, is liable for any damage done by the animal as if the animal were of their property. Sections 12 to 15 deal with the disposal of animals found running at large.
