Résumé

This Part of Chapter 378 of the Florida Statutes is known as the Phosphate Land Reclamation Act. The act intends that mined lands be reclaimed to a beneficial use in a timely manner and in a manner which recognizes the diversity among mines, mining operations, and types of lands which are mined. The rules developed by the department for the regulation of mandatory land reclamation should be consistent with the goals of the state to simplify and coordinate regulation. The act further provides for the administration, powers and duties of the Department of Environmental Protection of Florida; reclamation criteria and standards; financial responsibility; timing of reclamation; and violations, damages, and penalties.
