Résumé The present Rules are made under the Patent Act. In particular, the purpose of the Rules is to ensure the correct and efficient enforcement of the afore-mentioned Act in Canada. Section 3 establishes that if a person takes any proceeding or requests that any service be rendered by the Commissioner or by the Patent Office, the person shall pay to the Commissioner the appropriate fee, if any, set out in Schedule II for that proceeding or service. The text consists of 190 sections divided into 6 Parts as follows: Rules of general application (I); Patent Cooperation Treaty (II); Applications having a filing date on or after October 1, 1996 (III); Applications having a filing date in the period beginning on October 1, 1989 and ending on September 30, 1996 (IV); Applications having a filing date before October 1, 1989 (V); Repeals and coming into force (VI).
