The present Ordinance enters into force on 1 January 1999.
Résumé

The present Ordinance lays down regulations on the implementation of the Federal Forestry Law of 26 April 1998. Applications for land clearing shall be based on sound motivation. They shall be made public and appeals against them can be made within 30 days. The setting up of huts is permitted only if the surrounding area has the minimum size laid down in article 11. Part IV deals with care and use of forests of which the Forestry Office is in charge. The cantonal forestry planning assesses, inter alia, the state of the forests, target development of forests, technical measures, wood reserves, prevention of damage made by game. The remaining part of the Ordinance is devoted to the organization and proceedings of wood cutting. Forests where special wood grows may be declared national reserves. The text consists of 48 articles divided into 8 chapters as follows: General provisions (I); Forest protection (II); Protection against natural disasters (III); Surveillance and maintenance of forests (IV); Promotion measures (V); Penalties (VI); Proceedings and execution (VII); Final provisions (VIII).
