Order No. 84 of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy validating the Instruction on the prophylaxis and liquidation of reovirus infection in poultry.

Résumé

The Instruction establishes veterinary and sanitary arrangements in case of the outbreak of reovirus infection in the poultry farms, the modalities of the application of the preventive arrangements that shall be compulsory for all poultry farms irrespectively of the form of property. Reovirus infection shall be diagnosed on the basis of the analysis of the epizootic situation in the region, at a given poultry farm, clinical symptoms, the results of serologic research, the presence of the characteristic pathological and anatomical changes and identification of the extracted virus. The following preventive arrangements shall be applicable in case of the outbreak of reovirus infection: 1) incubation eggs must be supplied from farms that are free of infectious disease; 2) poultry of different age groups shall be kept separately, young chickens destined for raising must be healthy; 3) disinfection shall be carried out before the introduction of each new flock; 4) parent flocks shall be vaccinated; 5) each lot of animal feed brought from outside must pass inspection; 6) transport means and packages used for the transportation of poultry must be disinfected after each haul. After the exposure of reovirus infection in a poultry farm quarantine must be imposed and shall include the following provisions: 1) prohibition to transfer flocks on the territory of poultry farm; 2) prohibition of the utilization of incubation eggs originating from adverse poultry farms; 3) prohibition for the utilization of packages without disinfection; 4) prohibition to store the eggs originating from infected poultry farms together with the eggs originating from poultry farms that are free of infection; 5) prohibition of the transportation of down and feathers to the processing industry without prior disinfection.
