This Order enters into force on the day of its publication.
Résumé

This Order approves the Technical Regulation for Food Additives. It establishes their definitions, classification and use. This Regulation, consisting of 5 sections, specifies procedural matters to regulate the above mentioned activity. The use of additives is justified on technological, health, nutritional or sensory grounds where: Additives authorized in concentrations such that their intake does not exceed the recommended daily intake (ADI) values; Meet the purity requirements established by FAO-WHO, or Food Chemical Codex. The use of food additives is prohibited when: there is evidence or suspicion that it is not safe for human consumption; interfering sensibly and unfavorably in food nutritional value; serve to mask failures in processing and/or manipulation techniques; cover adulteration of the raw material or product already made; induce the consumer to error, deception or confusion, etc.
