The State Committee on Geology and Mineral Resources shall carry out the following tasks: (a) implementation of the state policy in the sphere of geological exploration, management and protection of subsoil; (b) elaboration and validation of geological programmes; and (c) carrying out within its competence of state control over exploration, management and protection of subsoil, and also realization of geological exploration work. The State Committee shall carry out the following functions: (a) introduction of new technologies and new methods and geological exploration and mining activity; (b) coordination and monitoring of geological study and exploration; (c) state registration of the plots of subsoil conceded for subsoil management; (d) mapping of subsoil; and (e) keeping state geological fund.
