The authorization is issued, in particular, for specimens: (i) brought into the national territory under the terms of the Convention and the Regulation; (ii) bred in captivity or by artificial means; (iii) earmarked for use in research and teaching or for conservation. Authorizations may not be issued for: (i) rhinoceros horns; (ii) elephant tusks that have not been registered in accordance with the Convention, (iii) any specimen of the species listed in annexes I, II and III of the Convention and in annexes B and C of the Regulation. The National Parks, Reserves and Nature Conservation Service keeps a register of the importers of the species listed in the annexes of the Convention and Regulation.
