Order No. 199 of the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority validating the Veterinary and Sanitary Regulation regarding the prohibition of the use in the farm animals of some substances with hormonal or thyrostatic action and of the beta-agonist ones.

Résumé

This Veterinary Sanitary Regulation regards the prohibition of the use in the raising of farm animals of some substances with hormonal or thyrostatic action and of the beta-agonists, contained in the Annex that is an integral part of this Order. Therapeutic treatment shall be intended administration, in accordance with art. 4, individually to a farm animal of an authorized substance, in order to treat a fertility disorder, including interruption of an unwanted pregnancy and, in the case of beta-agonist substances, in order to induce tocolysis in cows during calving, as well as for the treatment of respiratory disorders, navicular disease and laminitis and induction of tocolysis in equidae; (c) treatment, technical - administration: (1) individually in a female animal, of a substance authorized under Art. 5 para. (1), for the purpose of estrous cycle synchronization and preparation of donors and recipients for embryo implantation, after examination by a veterinarian or under his responsibility, in in accordance with the provisions of art. 5 para. and (2); (2) in the case of aquaculture species, to a group of breeding animals of an authorized substance, for the reversal of sex, on the prescription of a veterinarian and under his responsibility. Illegal treatment shall be intended the use of unauthorized products or substances or the use of substances, or products authorized by Community legislation, for other purposes or under conditions other than those laid down by Community legislation. The following hormonal products may not be authorized: (a) which acts as repository, accumulating in the tissues; (b) whose uptake time is longer than 15 days from the end of the treatment; (c) whose conditions of use are not known; (d) for which there are no specific reagents or equipment for detecting the presence of excess residues compared to the limits allowed; and (e) veterinary medicinal products containing beta-agonist substances which have uptake period longer than 28 days after the end of treatment.
