Résumé

An Oil Palm Industry Corporation is established under section 3 as a body corporate and the Oil Palm Industry Corporation Board is established under section 7. The functions of the Corporation are: (a) to promote and encourage increase in productivity in the oil palm industry by the more efficient provision of extension services to small-holders; and (b) to promote the development of the oil palm industry, and in particular: (i) the implementation of improved husbandry technologies to increase production by small-holders; and (ii) the introduction of techniques for effective control and regulation of oil palm pests and diseases by small-holders; and (iii) the development of representative grower groups amongst small-holders; and (c) to promote the use of improved management techniques for the cultivation, harvesting and quality control techniques by small-holders; etc. There is established a Local Planning Committee for each Project Area (sect. 19) declared as such by the Minister pursuant to section 2. Functions the Committee are set out in section 25.
