Résumé

The Natural Resources Conservation Board is established as a corporation consisting of its members under section 11 of this Act. The purpose of this Act is to provide for an impartial process to review projects that will or may affect the natural resources of Alberta in order to determine whether, in the Board's opinion, the projects are in the public interest, having regard to the social and economic effects of the projects and the effect of the projects on the environment. The following are subject to a review in accordance with this Act and the Regulations: (a) forest industry projects; (b) recreational or tourism projects; (c) metallic or industrial mineral projects; (d) water management projects; (e) any other type of project prescribed in the regulations; (f) specific projects prescribed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council. No person may commence a reviewable project unless the Board, on application, has granted an approval under this Act in respect of the project. Other powers of the Board are set out in section 21.
