The Trust shall safeguard the cultural, historical and natural heritage of the Turks and Caicos Islands through the preservation of areas, sites, buildings, structures and objects of cultural, historical or natural significance. It may, among other things, engage in programmes to preserve and propagate wildlife. The Trust shall be managed by the Trust Council, which may establish district and special committees. The Trust may enter into an agreement with landowners regarding an easement or to conditions restricting the planning, development or use of the land in a specified manner. The Trust may give advice to the Governor on: the declaration of a national park, nature reserve, sanctuary or area of historical interest under section 3 of the National Parks Ordinance; the making of Regulations under that Ordinance; and the granting of applications for development permission referred to the Governor under section 42(2)(b) of the Physical Planning Ordinance.
