Therefore, PESS is the main reference for the development of the National Infant Health Policy whose objective is to increase access to services for the promotion, prevention and recovery of the health of children in Mozambique. The National Infant Health Policy in Mozambique (SNI) aims at ensuring the right to health and achieving full potential for all Mozambican Children. This policy was defined based on the principle of respect and commitment to the Rights of the Child, the right to health, the continuity of health care at all levels, the guarantee of equity, comprehensiveness and the basis of current scientific evidence and the profile epidemiological profile of the population. The SNI Policy is formulated and harmonized in an integrated manner with the Government Directives for the Health Sector, National Policies and Strategies of the different programmes related to child health, with the general objective of promoting the health of newborns and children, as well as reducing child and youth mortality in Mozambique, with a view to achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
