They also concern importation and manufacture of drugs for field trials and inspection of field trails. “Ectoparasiticide” means an agent that is applied directly to an animal to kill ticks, mites, lice, fleas, tsetse flies, biting and nuisance flies and other ectoparasites. Field trials shall be conducted for ectoparasiticides that are registered under the National Drug Authority Act and for ectoparasiticides that are not registered under the Act, prior to the ectoparasiticides being supplied, administered or used in Uganda. A person shall not start or cause to be started a field trial or conduct a field trial, without the authorisation of the National Drug Authority. Schedule 2 sets out the format for a field trail protocol. Proof of an Environment Impact Assessment study shall be submitted at the end of the field trial.
