Résumé

This Ministerial Order defines the eligibility criteria for timber manufacturers to export processed wood from native species in Mozambique, under article 119 of the Law of Forests and Wildlife, approved by Decree No. 12/2002 of 6 June. It establishes that concession operators, industrial operators and the National Fund for Sustainable Development are allowed to export processed wood from native species. In order to compete for the export of processed wood from native species, as well as access the forest concession regime, the operator must have an installed and operational processing unit with the following characteristics: a) Investment volume equal to or greater than 750,000.00 MT; b) Installed power equal to or greater than 10 KVA; c) Number of workers equal to or greater than 20; d) Daily production equal to or greater than 5 m3/day. In addition to these criteria, industries must have a saw sharpening sector, a raw material yard and specific machines in operation. The Provincial Forestry Services, in coordination with the entity that oversees the Industry area at Provincial level, should maintain an updated central register of wood processing industries to be sent to the National Directorate of Forestry on a quarterly basis for compilation and monitoring purposes. Wood processing industries must be registered with the Provincial Directorate which oversees the forestry sector.
