Ministerial Order No. 119/2023 approving the Renewable Energy Code.

This Ministerial Order approves the Renewable Energy Code. The Code contributes to the objectives established in Resolution No. 62/2009 of 14 October and in the New and Renewable Energy Development Strategy (EDENR) for the period 2011-2025, facilitating the integration of generation of renewable energy source guaranteeing the quality and safety of the National Electric Grid, the harmonious expansion of the Mozambique Electric Sector, the reinforcement of Mozambique's role in the Southern African electrical system and the Southern African Power Pool and private investment in the sector. The Renewable Energy Code is part of the legal framework of the electrical energy sector established by Law No. 12/2022 of 11 July, Electricity Law, thus contributing to the objectives of sustainable development, energy transition, efficiency and reliability of the National Electric System of Mozambique. Renewable Energy Plants connected to the National Electricity Transmission Network and the Electricity Distribution Network for the new technologies are covered by the application of this code. Technologies in connection to the grid include: i. Wind; and ii. Solar Photovoltaic.
