Entry into force notes
The Decree shall enter into force on the day of its publication in the Official Gazette.
Résumé

With a view to meeting the requirements of Law No. 1650/86 (articles 11 and 12 thereof), Ministerial Decision No. 69728/824/1996 (articles 4 and 7 thereof), Decision No. 19396/1546/1997 (articles 4 and 5 thereof ) and at the same time aiming at complying with the provisions of Council Directive 1999/31/EC, this Decree establishes, according to the provisions of the Directive, measures, procedures and guidance in order to prevent or reduce negative effects on the environment, in particular the pollution of surface water, groundwater, soil and air and of the global environment (including the greenhouse effect) as well as any other risk to human health that might result from landfilling of waste. The Degree, among other provisions, sets forth the national strategy for the reduction of biodegradable waste in landfills (article 4).
