Résumé The Decree aims at implementing the provisions of articles 12 and 15 (paragraph 2) of Law No. 1650/86 and also aims at harmonizing the Greek legislative framework with the provisions of Council Directive 91/157/EEC on the management of batteries and accumulators containing certain dangerous substances so as to ensure that the collection and recycling of spent batteries and accumulators can help to avoid unnecessary use of raw materials and to achieve environmental protection (article 1). The Decree sets out provisions governing the marketing of batteries and accumulators containing hazardous substances, as well as the treatment, recycling and disposal of waste batteries. Article 4 lays down specific prohibitions on marketing. Article 5 establishes treatment programmes.
