Résumé Purpose of this Law, consisting of 7 articles, is to regulate fishing, import, export and re-export of shark fishes in the Emirates. Article 1 deals with sharks fishing, in particular: category of boats permitted, period of fishing (from the 1st of July up to the 31st of January of the following year), kind and number of hooks, fishing areas and provisions about carcasses and live sharks trading. Article 2 prohibits to fish shark species set out in the Appendices of the CITES Convention and referred to in a list attached to the Law in territorial waters. Article 3 provides the necessary documents for sharks import and the additional ones that shall be attached in case of imports of shark species listed under the CITES Appendices and in the list attached to the Law. Article 4 bans sharks export. Article 5 establishes that imported sharks can be re-exported if in possession of the necessary permits from the Ministry of Environment and Water and indicates the necessary documents and the additional ones that shall be attached in case of re-export of shark species listed under the CITES Appendices and in the list attached to the Law.
