Chief state inspection for safe navigation is set up for rendering assistance to survey over safe navigation of sea and river transport and is posted under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Transport. The main tasks of Chief state inspection for safe navigation are: 1. carrying out state survey over safe navigation in sea-ports and river ports, territorial sea, internal waters and internal waterways, and vessels flying the national flag of Ukraine; 2. control over the observation of the legislation and international agreements signed by Ukraine as regards safe navigation and prevention of the pollution from ships; 3. carrying out assignments of the Ministry of Transport regarding implementation of the international agreements in the sphere of safe navigation and prevention of pollution from ships.
