Ministerial Decree No. 1153 validating the Regulation of the issuance of authorization for testing, manufacturing, use and trade of genetically modified organisms.

This Ministerial Decree establishes that authorization for testing, manufacturing, use and trade of genetically modified organisms shall be official document granting the right to the holder to carry out the aforesaid activities on condition of strict observance of terms and conditions specified therein. National commission on biological safety shall be the authorized institution to issue the aforesaid authorization. The applicants shall file application containing description of the project, process and evaluation of the outcome. A separate authorization shall be required for the release of GMOs to the environment. This Ministerial Decree contains Annexes specifying the principles of assessment of GMOs, safety arrangements and access to information regarding GMOs.
