The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) is required to speed up repair and maintenance programs, to combat illegal practices and to prevent unauthorized use of fire hydrants. The mayors of the Area are charged with restricting the use of water, both public and private, for watering of lawns, parks, etc. Government and private agencies shall inspect their plumbing systems, and citizens are urged to conserve water.
