Résumé

This Act establishes the regime for animal slaughtering, which is subject to licence (sect. 3), and for government inspection of packaged food, diseased animals and carcasses (to determine if they are unhealthy or unfit for food) (sects. 4-11). Section 8 obliges establishments receiving animals affected, or suspected of being affected with disease, to slaughter the animals under supervision of the inspector. The minister may refuse inspection, marking and certification of food prepared by establishments which have not complied with this Act or its regulations (sect. 13). The remainder of the Act deals with offences and penalties and the power to make regulations.
