Résumé

This Act defines the maritime areas and boundaries of Timor-Leste and regulates other matters relative to rights in respect of those areas. In principle, the baseline for measuring the width of the territorial sea of Timor-Leste shall be the low-tide line along the coast of the territory of Timor-Leste. An exception is made where rivers and bays are present. The outer limit of the internal waters of the territory of Timor-Leste shall be the baseline. The outer limit of the territorial sea of Timor-Leste shall be defined by a line in which each of the points is situated at a distance of twelve nautical miles from the nearest point of the baseline, whereas the contiguous zone has a width of 24 miles. The outer limit of the continental shelf of Timor-Leste shall be two hundred nautical miles from the baseline or by the outer edge of the continental margin, in case the continental margin is located at a distance exceeding two hundred nautical miles from the baseline. The EEZ measures 200 nautical miles. (13 sections)
