In order to ensure a balanced energy policy that is consistent with economic and social interests, the main objective of this Strategy is to establish a competitive economy, by developing a well-balanced, effective, market-principle based energy policy, which ensures the further development of the Latvian economy, its competitiveness in the region and worldwide, and welfare of the society.
