It applies to all harvesting operations within Liberia’s natural forests. It includes among other things, social environmental and social performance requirements for timber logging and post-harvesting activities. Environmental requirements concern, among other things, operations respecting protected areas (including indigenous cultural tenure areas), soil, water resources, protected animal and plant species, the ecosystem and biodiversity generally. Particular attention is given to the protection of water resources. Broad-scale planning or land use validation is carried out by the FDA in consultation with concerned stakeholders prior to forest resource allocation in order to determine forest areas which may be designated as commercial forest areas, protected areas or multiple use forest areas. All these planning activities shall be made in accordance with this Code. Texte intégral Anglais Site web www.fda.gov.lr
