The Georgian National Academy of Sciences is a successor to the ancient Georgian Academies of Gelati and Ikalto, and is a feature of the high level intellectual development of the State, and a scientific adviser of the Government of Georgia, and a union of persons with international scientific achievements and high level scientific and civic competence. The Academy is a legal entity under public law based on membership. It consists of full members (academicians) and associate members of the Academy, as well as honorary academicians and foreign members of the Academy.
