Résumé This Law governs the main legal relations in connection with the creation and management of the Erusheti protected areas. The Law consists of nine articles: Scope of regulation of this Law (1); Main goals and objectives of this Law (2); Categories of the Erusheti protected areas (3); Location and surface area of the Erusheti National Park (4); Location of the Erusheti Multipurpose Use Area (auxiliary zone) and the list of settled areas (villages) (5); Regime for the protection and use of the Erusheti National Park (6); State management of the Erusheti protected areas (7); Land-use and mineral extraction issues in connection with the creation of the Erusheti National Park (8); and Entry into force of this Law (9). This and other laws and regulations of Georgia govern the protection and use of land, water, forest and other natural resources, and historical-cultural monuments of the Erusheti protected areas. The Law aims: to promote the protection, restoration and prudent use of the natural and modified areas of the Erusheti National Park in order to ensure the continuous development of natural processes; to ensure the protection and restoration of the Erusheti National Park natural ecosystems, landscapes, fauna and flora, and the genetic resources of endangered wildlife and wild plants, in particular the ones included in the Georgian Red List and the Global Red List; to ensure the establishment of mechanisms for the creation of favorable conditions for recreation in the natural environment and historical-cultural environment of Erusheti National Park, health care and sustainable development of ecotourism; to ensure the protection, restoration and reasonable use of land, water, wildlife and other natural resources belonging to the Erusheti National Park; to ensure the creation of favorable conditions for education and scientific research in the Erusheti National Park, the protection, restoration and monitoring of the natural, bio-ecological regime; to provide protection against degradation and destruction due to anthropogenic impact of unique and rare, organic or inorganic natural formations and individual natural components; and to promote the preservation and development of folklore traditions in the Erusheti National Park and the Erusheti Multipurpose Use Area (auxiliary zone).
