Résumé The present Law establishes the requirements for the transactions with foodstuffs and regulates relations connected with food safety issues. Trade of foodstuffs shall be prohibited in the following cases: 1) if the foodstuffs contain prohibited food additives; 2) if maximum residue limits exceed the allowable limits; 3) if the period of validity has expired; 4) packaging materials contacting foodstuffs do not meet the established hygienic requirements; 5) foodstuffs do not meet the established sanitary and hygienic requirements (art. 4). Foodstuffs must comply with sanitary and hygienic requirements and in case of the absence thereof must comply with Codex Alimentaris of FAO. Potable water used for manufacturing of foodstuffs shall comply with standards established for potable water. (art. 5). Labels of foodstuffs must contain the following data : 1) product name and its contents ; 2) list of food additives ; 3) production and expiration dates ; 4) modalities of use ; 5) country of origin ; 6) alcohol contents (for liquors) ; 6) energy value (art. 9). The Government shall exercise safety inspection of foodstuffs through the authorized institutions (art. 11). The Law consists of 15 articles.
