Résumé This Law regulates viticulture and wine production and trade in the Republic of Armenia, and also processing, labelling and marketing of liquors. It classifies regions as grape cultivation (Ararat, Armavir) and wine-making regions (Aragatsotn, Kotayk, Lori, Tavush, Vayots Dzor, Syunik and Yerevan). Grape cultivation outside officially classified grape cultivation regions shall not be prohibited. Grape varieties shall be classified in accordance with the following characteristics: (a) wine and table varieties; (b) fruit color; (c) fruit fragrance; and (d) maturity. Wineries shall be authorize to use only winemaking methods and processes authorized by the Government. Grape juice and grape concentrated juice cannot be used for the production of wine or added to wine and cannot be added for alcohol fermentation. Use of grape straw, derivate from wine sediments or byproducts of alcohol distillation shall be prohibited to use of winemaking. Wormwood shall be authorized for use exclusively for distillation.
