Résumé The purpose of this Law is to stimulate agricultural manufacturers to insure their property interests against risks related to agricultural activities, and protection of these interests in the process of insurance production risks in agriculture. This Law regulates the relations between insurers and agricultural producers arising in the process of insurance in agriculture, as well as the relations established between them, on the one hand, and the bodies of public administration, on the other hand, in connection with state subsidies for insurance premiums. The object of insurance is agricultural property pertaining to civil commerce, in respect of which are not established prohibitions or restrictions by law. The object of quantitative crop insurance is a property interest associated with financial losses arising as a result of obtaining the amount of agricultural crops below planned due to the occurrence of an insured risk. An agricultural producer may insure the object of insurance against one or several following risks: (a) extreme drought; (b) hail; (c) early autumn and late spring frosts, winter freezing; (d) flooding; (e) heavy rains; (f) crop blowing; (g) plant lodging; (h) burning of crops; and (i) pest infestation. The object of insurance of farm animals is a property interest related to financial losses resulting from the death or slaughter of farm animals, with the exception of fishes and bees. The following farm animals are not insured: (a) which are kept in conditions that do not comply with veterinary and sanitary standards; (b) sick (infected) farm animals; and (c) farm animals with clinical signs of disease, farm animals that have lost normal weight below physiological level, located in the zone of protection and supervision established by the National food safety agency. An agricultural producer can insure the object of insurance against death or forced slaughter caused, in particular, by one or more of the specified risks: (a) diseases or pathologies of animals; (b) accidents; (c) dangerous meteorological and agrometeorological phenomena; (d) extreme temperatures below or above the physiological endurance limit animals; and (e) fires. Insurance in agriculture shall be regulated by contracts.
