Résumé This Law establishes the right to health protection as the right of all people to enjoy the best physical, mental and social health, assuming the creation and development of economic, social, cultural and environmental conditions that guarantee sufficient and healthy levels of life, work and leisure. The right to health protection is a joint responsibility of people, society and the State and includes lifelong access to health promotion, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation, continuous care and palliative care. The State promotes and guarantees the right to health protection through the National Health Service (SNS), the Regional Health Services etc. All persons have the right to: a) health protection with respect for the principles of equality, non-discrimination, confidentiality and privacy; b) access health care appropriate to their situation, promptly and within the time considered clinically acceptable; c) freely choose the health care provider; d) receive information about the health care they need; e) be informed in an adequate, accessible, objective, complete and intelligible manner about their situation, etc. Texte intégral Portugais Site web diariodarepublica.pt
