Résumé The present Law establishes legal basis and regulates relations in the sphere of standardization and metrology. Standardization is the activity for the establishment of norms, regulations and characteristics for the purpose of ensuring quality of produce, work and service in conformity with the development of science, technique and technology. Metrology is the activity elaborating methods and means of measurement, achievement of uniformity thereof and the required precision. The main tasks of standardization and metrology are: 1) protection of the consumers’ rights as regards quality of produce, processes and service; 2) ensuring safety of produce for human beings and environment; 3) resource saving. State standards establish compulsory and recommended requirements. Compulsory requirements include: 1) safety for human health; 2) environmental protection; 3) packaging and labelling.
