Law No. 8288 creating the State Policy for Agroecology and within the State of Piauí (PEAPI).

This Law creates the State Policy for Agroecology within the State of Piauí (PEAPI), with the aim of integrating, articulating and adapting policies, programmes and actions that induce agroecological and Agroecological-based transition, contributing to sustainable development and the quality of life of the population, through the sustainable use of natural resources and the supply and consumption of healthy foods, considering Federal Decree No. 7.794 of 20 August 2012, which established the National Policy for Agroecology and Organic Production. PEAPI's objectives aim to strengthen sovereign production, in quantity, quality and diversity of food and other socio-biodiversity products, conserve cultural and natural heritage, boost local solidarity economy networks, build fair social relations between women and men and between generations , give visibility to rural people, recognize the value of knowledge and popular culture, recognize ethnic diversity, contributing to the construction of a sustainable, egalitarian and democratic society.
