Résumé

This Law, consisting of 25 articles, provides for the Plant Sanitary Protection within the State of Maranhão. This Law is established for protecting plants, their parts, products, by-products, biological material, and waste of economic value, through the adoption of mandatory technical and administrative actions and measures. The Plant Sanitary Protection is exercised by the State Agency of Agricultural and Livestock Protection of Maranhão (AGED-MA), an agency linked to the State Management of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development (GEAGRO), which may conclude agreements, adjustments, protocols or contracts with public institutions or private individuals for the development and execution of their activities. At the state level, it is the exclusive competence of AGED-MA to carry out the sanitary inspection on production, trade and transit of plants, their parts, their products, by-products, biological material and waste of economic value.
