Résumé This Law, consisting of 55 articles divided into five Titles, provides for promotion, protection and recovery of health, as well as the organization and functioning of related services. It regulates, throughout the national territory, health actions and services, carried out separately or jointly, on a permanent or occasional basis, by natural or legal persons under public or private law. The objectives of the Unified Health System are: identification and dissemination of the conditioning factors and determinants of health; formulation of a health policy designed to promote, in the economic and social fields, compliance with the provisions of art. 2 of this law; assistance to people through health promotion, protection and recovery actions, with the integrated implementation of assistance actions and preventive activities. The Unified Health System actions are: implementation of actions on: a) health surveillance; b) epidemiological surveillance; c) worker health; and d) comprehensive therapeutic assistance. The Law is divided as follows: General provisions (Title I); Health System (Title II); Private Health Care Service (Title III); Human resources (Title IV); Financing (Title V).
