Résumé This Law is composed of 20 articles. Terms and definitions are given in article 1. Article 2 provides for the establishment of the Plant Sanitary Control Department with the objective to inspect on plants and to define the geographic distribution of diseases and epidemics. Article 3 deals with matters related to the inspection on farms, and agricultural instruments and equipment. It is obligatory to inform the Department about diseases and epidemics (art. 4). Article 5 defines the measures for the protection of plants, for the prevention and fight against pests and diseases and for quarantine actions. Article 6 defines dangerous diseases and epidemics (art. 6). Control and inspection of imported plants and plant products are addressed in article 7. Imported plants and plant products shall be accompanied by a sanitary certificate from the country of origin (art. 10). Article 13 deals with the control and inspection on exported plants and plant products. Offences and penalties are contained in articles 16 and 17.
