Résumé This Law, consisting of 13 articles, provides for the creation of the Environmental Service for farmers using means for preserving and recovering water sources, springs and related resources. The Law defines the Environmental Service farmer as the one who provides part of its agricultural holding located in the rural area for providing environmental services. In addition, farmers should use soils according to their suitability and adopt preservation technologies and recover the holding located in areas of public springs. An Environmental Service Farmers should: 1. maintain a native forest cover area of natural value in addition to Legal Reserve and Permanent Preservation Areas in its agricultural production unit, located in areas with springs; 2. protect all sources of water by maintaining the native forest cover in its surroundings; 3. maintain the Legal Reserve areas with native vegetation and benefit from policies of Private Reserves of Natural Patrimony (RPPNs) already registered in the environmental agency of Roraima; 4. be a medium or large-scale farmer, owning an agricultural holding in water source areas of springs and developing agroecological production processes with recognized certification in national territory; 5. develop environmental education actions, in partnership with public schools and/or with environmental and social campaigns; 6. adopt a set of practices for soil and water conservation, using the agricultural soil within its aptitude, respecting the capacity of use of the soil in water source areas; 7. develop actions for the preservation and recovery riparian forests.
