Résumé

This Law, consisting of 68 articles divided into nine Chapters, creates the State Policy on Climate Governance, the Environmental Services (PGSA) and the State System of Climate Governance and Environmental Services (SGSA), within the State of Rondônia. This Policy shall comply with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the subsequent international decisions to which Brazil is a signatory, as well as the relevant legislation, in particular Federal Law No. 12.187 of 29 December 2009 creating the National Policy on Climate Change (PNMC). The objective of the PGSA aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to mitigate and adapt the effects of climate change, through the efforts carried out by the population, the multiple users of natural resources and the Public Power, ensuring food production, biodiversity preservation, rights of indigenous peoples and traditional communities, and promoting the economic sustainable development. The State Public Power will create the Climate Governance and Environmental Services Fund, linked to SEDAM, with the objective of receiving and applying resources destined to the final activities of the Climate Governance Policy and Environmental Services.
