Résumé This Law creates the State System of Protected Natural Areas of the State of Acre (SEANP), establishing its principles, mechanisms for formulation, execution, monitoring and evaluation. The SEANP is constituted by the set of state, municipal and federal conservation units, indigenous lands, legal reserves and permanent preservation areas that constitute the ecological corridors in the State of Acre. The SEANP will promote public policies and actions aimed at the sustainable use of natural resources. The SEANP has the following objectives: preserve and restore essential ecological processes; provide for the ecological management of species and ecosystems, ensuring the maintenance of environmental services; contribute to the maintenance of biodiversity and genetic resources; protect endangered species; contribute to the preservation and restoration of ecosystems; promote sustainable development, valuing biodiversity, encouraging sustainable activities and the payment for environmental services; protect natural landscapes of remarkable scenic beauty; protect relevant features of a geological, geomorphological, speleological, archaeological, paleontological and cultural nature; protect and restore water, soil and biological resources; provide means and incentives for scientific research activities, studies and environmental monitoring; favor conditions and promote environmental education and interpretation, recreation in contact with nature and ecological tourism; protect the natural resources necessary for the subsistence of traditional populations, respecting and valuing their knowledge and culture and promoting them socially and economically.
