Entry into force notes
This Law enters into force the following day after the passage of 30 days from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
Résumé

This Law consisting of 11 articles aims at regulating the dredging of sand from the seabed. It prohibits: (i) to extract the marine sands without obtaining a license from the Minister responsible for organizing the fishing, exploitation and protection of the marine wealth, after taking the approval of the relevant authorities and taking the opinion of the concerned municipality; (ii) to export extracted sand outside the Bahrain without the approval of the Council of Ministers; and establishes that (iii) the Council of Ministers shall determine a fee to obtain a license for the activity of sand mining. The concerned Minister shall establish a Committee in charge of proposing to identify certain sites at sea for the extraction of sand, taking into account the preservation of the integrity of the marine environment and the protection of wildlife and marine wealth. The Minister may revoke the license in the cases listed in art.4.
