The Law permits private sector entities to trade and sell electricity generated from renewable sources, with a cap of ten megawatts. It applies to distributed renewable energy production under different net metering arrangements and covers both on-site and off-site power purchase agreements for the production and sale of renewable energy. Article 5 addresses the recycling of renewable energy and surplus compensation. Article 6 designates the Electricity Sector Regulatory Authority with the responsibility of monitoring and surveillance, including the development of a database for renewable energy production and conservation in Lebanon. The Electricité du Liban (EDL) is entrusted with overseeing participants, consumers, and producers, and a dedicated Directorate for Renewable Energy will be established within EDL to implement the Law and address related issues.
