Résumé

This Law is composed of 11 Chapters divided into 45 articles. Chapter 1 contains terms and definitions. Chapter 2 defines the internal water. Chapter 3 defines the Territorial Sea. Chapter 4 Delimites the Contiguous Zone which extend to a maximum of 24 nautical miles in direction of the high sea. The Exclusive Economic Zone extends from the baselines to the high sea for a maximum of 200 nautical miles (Chap. 5). Chapter 6 deals with the Continental Shelf. Chapter 7 deals with the marine scientific research. Chapter 8 deals with Syrian rights related to the high sea. Chapter 9 deals with prohibited activities which are: (a) slave trade; (b) piracy; (c) illegal commerce with drugs; and, (d) illegal broadcasting. Offences and penalties are set out in Chapter 10. Chapter 11 contains concluding provisions.
