Résumé This Law, consisting of 15 articles divided into seven Chapters, creates Municipal Policy for Fighting Global Warming and Climate Change to be carried out in the Municipality of Manaus. This Municipal Policy aims to contribute to the restoration of the climate balance and the healthy quality of life of present and future generations of citizens of Manaus. The Municipal Policy will be implemented through incentives to sustainable practices, as well as through the compulsory use of equipment aimed at the rational use of energy and water in buildings in the municipality of Manaus. The Municipal Policy establishes that single-family residential building projects with a built area of 200 m² or more, that are elaborated after the entry into force of this Law must adopt architectural techniques that reduce the need for artificial lighting and artificial air cooling. Projects of residential buildings or multi-family housing units with a built area of more than 500 m², that are elaborated after the entry into force of this Law should adopt architectural techniques that reduce the need for artificial lighting and artificial air cooling. All buildings where commercial or industrial activities are carried out and that use air cooling for internal air conditioning are subject to the obligation to adopt efficient energy equipment.
