Résumé

By this Law the Republic of Turkey hereby approves the Convention for the Protection of the Mediterranean Sea against Pollution, the Protocol Concerning Cooperation in Combating Pollution of the Mediterranean Sea by Oil and other Harmful Substances in Cases of Emergency, the Protocol for the Prevention of Pollution of the Mediterranean Sea by Dumping from Ships and Aircraft and the Annexes listing the hazardous substances and wastes. This Convention consists of 29 articles and the text of the Convention in its original Turkish translation. The Convention aims at (i) assessing and controlling marine pollution, (ii) ensuring sustainable management of natural marine and coastal resources, (iii) integrating the environment and coastal zones through prevention and reduction of pollution, (iv) protecting the natural and cultural heritage, (v) strengthening solidarity among Mediterranean coastal States and (vi) contributing the improvement of the quality of life.
